WELCOME TO MY LIFE

This page mainly focuses on my humble life as a student at the UTwente in Enschede, studying Creative Technology.
My life started in a small German town called Papenburg. Besides the Cruiseship Manufacturer "Meyer Werft" there is no reason why you should even know this little place in Germany.

Born on the 24th of June 1997, I somehow managed to be somewhat successful in school *cough*.
Having inherited the typical German attitudes, like punctuality and being overly organized, I became a member of the student representative team of my high school where I organized parties, events and managed the financial stuff.

HELLO eNSCHEDE

After graduation from the business gymnasium, I decided to study something business orientated, but also something technical and creative.
When I found Creative Technology in my newspaper, I immediately knew: this is what I want to do. So, in the end, I moved to Gronau in Germany, which is only 10 minutes by train to Enschede, where I was living with 4 other students.

For the second and third year of my study, I decided that I want to move closer to Uni. So, together with a colleague of mine, we moved into an old house in Enschede in the sommer of 2017. The housing quality is remarkably lower than expected and the prices are higher, but that is why you need to take into account for mobility and sleep.

MY HOBBIES

To start off, I did a lot of different kinds of sports in the past. From football to table tennis, to floorball, to rowing, to basketball, to skating, to longboarding and of course E-Gaming.

But I'm not the guy who stays at one thing - I like living in projects. So I'm always open for new stuff. in 2016, I revived an old love of mine. Photography. With the purchase of a new SONY A6000, I began taking pictures of weddings, friends, animals and nature. I fell in love and got the gas...(gear acquisition syndrome). I managed to buy a shitload of lenses and other equipment in the next year.

FINISHING MY STUDY

After two and a half year of CreaTe and being a poor student, I decided to not pick a topic for my bachelor project that was suggested by the university, but rather look for a company and solve one of their problem I would be personally interested in. This would not only give me better insights into the actual life at an office but would also keep me motivated over the course of the last half of the final year.

I contacted the aforementioned Meyer Werft and soon enough, we had an agreement.

For my bachelor thesis, I programmed and designed a Unity-based 3D tool that visualizes the passenger flow on cruise line ships. Over the course of one day, the passengers and their respective tracks are shown on 3D models based off of the actual blueprints of the ship.

Getting a decent grade for the thesis, I can now look back on three successful years of studying.

Call me
ux-engineer

After finishing my stay at the uni, it was now time to find a purpose in life.

Reflecting on what brought me the most joy and what might be a feasible industry, I decided to persue a career in UX/UI design.

With the ROSEN Group, I found an interesting and renowned employer where I quickly settled into a team of software developers that helped me foster my understanding of UX in practise. My job is to develop new features and improvements, think of workflows and focus on the user needs.

I strive to make the software an easy to use tool with no obstacles and a pleasant experience!
